CSL - Squeeze Roller

Project Overview

ideas* developed a custom machine for CSL to process frozen blood plasma from pallets and collection bags into thawing vessels. The Squeeze Roller machine was designed and constructed to remove the frozen blood plasma from donation bags using two rollers.

The Design

The Squeeze Roller is capable of processing 40 donations per minute and changes what was previously a highly labour intensive process to a process requiring minimal operator involvement. The machine features variable speed drives for full control over the debagging process, is designed to meet strict regulatory requirements and is a fully safety interlocked system.
